Preparing for Surgery

Preparing for Surgery

Before Your Surgery

One of our nurses may contact you a few days prior to your surgery to review your health history and answer any questions you might have about OOSC. OOSC asks all surgical patients to complete their health history online via the Simple Admit portal. The Simple Admit portal can be located by going to the ooscdm.com homepage and clicking on Patient Registration.

We will also contact you the day prior to your surgical procedure regarding:

  • Time of arrival
  • Time of surgery/procedure
  • A brief medical history
  • Special instructions

Please make sure you provide a phone number where you can be reached during the day. We utilize the numbers you provide in the Simple Admit health history form; if additional numbers are needed, please provide all pertinent numbers.

During the pre-operative phone call, a nurse will give you instructions when you need to stop eating, drinking, and chewing gum before your surgery. It is very important for these instructions to be followed or your surgery may be delayed or cancelled.

Additional requirements to note:

  • No alcohol or cigarettes 24 hours prior to surgery.
  • If you develop a cold, sore throat, or infection, notify your physician.

Interpreters are available upon request.

If you will be unavailable, please call us at (515) 224-5232 between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on the day before your surgery.
